Trends Koreans Want to Follow - Young Middle Age

Actors in dramas and movies who touch our hearts. We fall for their lively appearances. We search them online because we want to know more, and we are amazed by how young they look. Right, celebrities have jobs that require them to maintain their looks, so they get special care. It's natural that regular people can't keep up with that. We praise them but think that regular people and actors are different.

The person that most Koreans want to be like isn't a celebrity. It's Lee Gil-yeo, the president of Gachon University, who studied medicine, worked in obstetrics, and later established a medical school.

We respect her work and career. In her younger days, you can see confidence in her smile in black and white photos. Standing alongside foreign doctors in a medical volunteer group, she looks no different from today. President Lee Gil-yeo was born in 1932 and is 93 years old.

This is how she appeared on Gachon University's YouTube this year. Her sharp eyes and neat shoulders and hands make us acknowledge her as the president. You can manage skin and hair with money, but to have a good posture, your back and joints need to be healthy. How about her eyes? She is a professional still active in society with a brain as sharp as any young person's.

At a Gachon University festival, she said, "Today is your day," and encouraged everyone to "enjoy to the fullest, run, dance, and sing like there's no tomorrow." Her upright posture and voice were impressive.

Even when she's with young students, she doesn't look like an elderly person at all. Her energy, not affected by aging or pain, is something to envy.

I also want to live without pain and earn money until the day I die. I have a desire to talk with young friends. When videos about President Lee Gil-yeo come out, people react similarly. They are amazed and envious not only of her youthful appearance but also of her healthy look and spirit.

Even though there are many elderly people in Korea, there are also outstanding individuals among them. A time is coming when old age is not a curse. Koreans dream of being young and healthy in their vibrant middle age.
