Incomplete Life - Between Heaven and Hell

Drama 'Incomplete Life': The Story of All of Us Who Aren't Perfect
The drama Incomplete Life, which aired in 2014, is based on the webtoon of the same name by writer Yoon Tae-ho. It became very popular due to its solid storyline and realistic character portrayals.
The main character, Jang Geu-rae, fails to join the professional Go league after preparing for a long time and is thrown into society. Having only studied Go, he lacks both academic background and the social skills needed for work life. However, he joins a trading company as a contract worker to make a living and faces the challenges of reality and relationships.

This drama was also a rediscovery of several new actors. Two particularly impressive characters are as follows.

Im Si-wan, who played Jang Geu-rae, is a former member of the K-pop group 'ZE:A' and was noted for his calm and delicate acting. He later left a strong impression in works like The Merciless, Strangers from Hell, and Squid Game Seasons 2 and 3.
Park Hae-joon, who played Chun Kwan-woong, deeply expressed complex emotions and subtle personalities. He also showed a strong presence in My Mister, The World of the Married, and The Accidental Detective.

Realistic Characters, Interesting Conflicts
The company people in the drama are characters you might see anywhere. But when incidents occur and personal interests get entangled, their ordinary faces change. Some characters who seemed weak find courage, while others deceive colleagues to aim for promotions.

A particularly memorable villain is Manager Park Jong-sik. He harasses the high school graduate contract worker Jang Geu-rae, sexually harasses female employees, creates a shell company through a partner company, and embezzles profits, committing shocking crimes. The process of Jang Geu-rae and Manager Oh uncovering his corruption is gripping.

Park Jong-sik is not just a simple villain. Despite his excellent performance, he is frustrated by the reality of being just a salaried worker and mutters "It's not fun." With a sharp mind, he waits for opportunities like a hyena and secretly takes profits. Actor Kim Hee-won's performance realistically portrays his slyness, embodying an evil that seems like it could exist somewhere.

We Are All Incomplete Lives
Incomplete Life is the story of people who are not yet complete, 'incomplete lives.' A company can be heaven or hell. The work I do is not just my problem, and there is always a clash of interests in the process of striving for achievements. This brings pain, but hope is also needed.
This drama reminds us of the meta-awareness we all need. The world does not revolve around me, and Incomplete Life is a drama that allows us to share in that sadness. But just as ants are part of the universe, we are small but never insignificant. Incomplete Life tells us about that preciousness in an entertaining and profound way.
